Poem-on Tsunami

A BOLT FROM THE BLUE

(Poem on Tsunami)

It was a bolt from the blue

That hit South-East Asia hard

Leaving a trail of destruction

Beyond the means of construction.

A horror called Tsunami

A Japanese name for watery quake

That devastated coastal areas

And washed away

Homes and humanity.

The monster waves came in a flash

Engaged themselves in a fatal clash

Hardest hit, were

Sri Lanka, Indonesia, South India, Maldives and Malaysia.

The fishermen lost their nets and boats

Their vital means of livelihood

Pushing them into.

A struggle for survival

With fond hopes of life's revival.

Thousands perished within seconds.

Taken unawares of divine trends

Entire families were lost

Places looked ,like a ghost.

Nicobar was almost wiped out

But it was not a total rout

Some tribal managed to survive

All were happy to see them alive.

Rehabilitation is a massive task,

Where's money, you may ask.

But funds are coming in plentiful

To help the needy in a manner useful.

People everywhere

Are contributing liberally

For the most noble cause literally

But those who perished

Can't be brought back

All victims of the bygone Sunday black.
