Poem-Indian Flag

COLOURS OF ETERNITY

(INDIAN FLAG)

It flutters to an earnest height

And spreads eternal colours,

The saffron sky

With the golden shining

Sphere of heritage.

The whitest purity

Which lies beyond

The horizons of fraternity.

The green grass which flows along

And sways in the wind

The song of the Goddess

Embraced in a halo of the ocean

That washes the feet of the Goddess

Crowned by the Himalayas

Whose snow intones

The melody of patriotism.

She sings…

She sings to the infinite tender sky

Filled with the blueness

Of the chakra of Ashoka

She sings to the heights of the Everest.

Prettier than a petal of rose

In the green, green grass.

Prettier than the diamond glow

On the face of the dew.

Prettier than the shadow

Of a few wavering grass blades

Upon a small flat stone.

It is the Tricolour.
