Poem-An Ode to Secularism

AN ODE TO SECULARISM
It was all calm,
Cool and serene,
The wind was blowing softly,
And the trees were green.
The flowers looked wonderful,
There was the buzzing of bees,
Little birds chirped and twittered,
From their nests on the trees.
Suddenly there was a screeching shout,
Into every heart it pierced,
Everyone shuddered and shivered,
The shriek was so very fierce.
Next moment a man was seen,
Lying in a puddle of mud,
He was lifeless,
His clothes drenched with his own blood.
Then they all came shouting slogans,
With fury and rage on their faces,
Each one of them held a knife,
Full of fresh red stains.
They slashed and stabbed all,
Who came in their way,
They set the thatches to fire,
And made it a mourning day.
No more did the sweet birds chirp,
But vultures roamed around,
No more did the flowers,
Sway with the wind,
They lay trampled on the ground.
All those people were savages,
Brutal and merciless,
But before the almighty, one day
They will have to confess.
For the crimes they have committed,
In the name of religion,
They’ll have to bow before all,
For trying to hinder secularism.
